Sacramento, CA – Zach LaVine led the Sacramento Kings to a lopsided 128-107 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night, ending a four-game losing skid. LaVine had 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting as the Kings moved up their playoff standing.
Kings Dominate on Offense
Sacramento (36-37) made a season-high 64.9% of its shots from the field, led by Domantas Sabonis’s 22 points, 19 rebounds, and six assists. DeMar DeRozan had 21 points and 10 assists, and Keegan Murray and Malik Monk added 17 and 16 points, respectively.
The Kings’ win placed them in ninth in the Western Conference, ahead of the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns in the play-in standings.
Portland’s Struggles Continue
Deni Avdija topped the Trail Blazers (32-42) with 24 points and nine rebounds, and Shaedon Sharpe had 22 points and seven rebounds. Anfernee Simons chipped in 20, and Duop Reath contributed 17 off the bench.
Portland’s offense was lackluster, shooting only 39.8% overall and 16-of-50 on three-pointers. The loss was their third consecutive one, and it left them further outside of play-in range.
Kings Seal the Win in the Third Quarter
Sacramento took an 18-point halftime advantage and held command throughout the second half. The Kings shot 83.3% in the third quarter, pushing their lead to 100-82. A LaVine basket early in the fourth padded the margin to 23 points, clinching the game.
With five games remaining in their regular season, Sacramento seeks to build on momentum in its playoff chase. Portland, meanwhile, has a steep climb ahead, requiring a turnaround to keep its narrow hopes for the postseason alive.
